Fort Worth Spring Rally...

Well Im back from Fort Worth, and in spite of the weather, had a pretty good weekend!!

Friday, after M got off work, we drove up to Fort Worth, where huge storms were hitting... Most of the drive went really smoothly, we didnt hit bad weather until we were almost there... We quickly checked into the hotel, freshened up (M was still in work clothes) and then headed to the Wreck Room! We got there just in time to find Tony (Patio King for you WWR people) talking to the police after rolling around in the middle of the street in the rain fighting with his best friend... It was good to see him again in spite of the very soggy hug he gave me! We also got to meet Katie (GrumpyKatie/Cowtowngirlie) who is just a blast, her friends from Kansas, Max the b-day boy, Corina (Little Queenie), John PatioKings heterosexual life partner, and Big Mark... Ms tattoo was a big hit, we had many beers, and then another wave of the storm hit just in time for us to head back to the hotel... It was pretty much wading to the car, though M was sweet enough to use his shirt to dry off my favorite shoes... When we got back to the hotel, we opened up the curtains to our room and watched the storm... We were on the 14th floor and facing away from downtown right towards where all the lightning was so we got quite the light show...

The next morning, it was still drizzly outside so I called Tony to make sure everything was still going on... It was, in spite of the weather so we drove over and there was hardly anyone there... We opted to go get some lunch (mmm, crawfish dip) and then headed over to Big Marks so M could get a haircut... Big Mark has a hot rod barber shop called Barbersville Barber Garage, complete with tool box stations and air hoses and all... We ran into Corina and the Kansas folks there, on their way to the show... M got a good haircut and was all happy, I have this feeling we will have to go back to FTW more often so he can get haircuts now...

Finally made it to the Spring Rally... A few more cars had shown up and luckily the rain had cleared, but it was freezing! Got to see Lenzi and Adam again, and got to meet the adorable Dixie! She was a bit shy and wouldnt show us her super power, but she was all decked out in her converse and Ramones t-shirt! Unfortunately, Lenzi had to leave early to get Dixie home so we didnt get to hang out much... There were not very many cars to see there, and the vendors were just bizarre (the most entertaining one was a couple of guys trying to restore street cars if that tells you anything)... Katie introduced us to the evil that is Orange Zima... Yum! Tastes like orange soda and packs quite the punch... I did get to meet a few more people Sean (SW Chaos), Lil V, Angelique (theangel) and Nicole (Tims Girl Nicole)... The bands were good but we left during the Rev in order to beat the traffic out of there and were planning to meet everyone out later but M really just wanted to sleep... See, evil Orange Zima...

On Sunday, we got up and checked out of the hotel, then went wandering around downtown Fort Worth... We went in all kinds of little shops, had some coffee, and stuff like that... I also scored some cigar boxes to make some things out of... After lunch (well it was about 4pm), we hit the road back to Houston... On the way home, we got stuck in traffic and during that time spotted a truck for sale on the opposite side of the highway and had to turn around and sit through the traffic going the other way to get back to it... Turns out it belonged to an old car guy who also had a 47 Buick, a 66 Mustang GT and a 40 Chevy truck in his garage... Evidently he doesnt have much company, he gave us cokes and talked to us for about two hours... The guy and his wife were really nice though and his cars were really great! M is going to buy that truck from him, which will be good for the project he wants to build...

Anyway, it was a good weekend overall, but after all the driving we have been doing lately, I was really looking forward to staying home this coming weekend but now well have to go pick up this truck... Oh well, I am just happy he found one...

Oh, and I stopped in Buffalo to look for the infamous snack mix with the Captain Crunch in it (was going to send some out to my pregnant friends!), but yall are out of luck... They didnt have it anymore... Damn them...
